Minutes of March 20, 2025 VFW Post 7539 Meeting
Service Officers: Our Service officer said that vet services representatives are traveling the
country and may not be available to help with claims. 83K jobs will be cut from the Department
of Veteran Affairs. Local service officers can help you to file a claim, but they cannot sign off
on the claim. Only a certified claims officer can sign off.
Community Affairs: Our Post has joined the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce. Joining
the chamber will help our Post get exposure to more individuals and possibly help to get new
members for our Post.
Good of the Order: Pictures and information was sent to the “Illinois VFW News” about the
move-In essentials collection. It was reported that we collected 3,000 items.
Veteran Affairs You can get a life monitor from the V.A. It will detect if you have a fall etc.
Your primary physician will have to place the order and there is no charge for the device
through the Veterans Administration. We are reaching out to social media sites, Facebook and
You Tube, to advertise Post activities.
A representative from the Evanston Vet Center, spoke about the programs available to any
veteran and family. Vet Centers are available locally in Aurora and Oak Park, Illinois. The
regular V.A. centers may not allow a family member to participate in the treatment process, but
the Vet Center will be able to help veterans who experience alcoholism, PTSD and other
symptoms. Veterans can discuss their issues in confidence. This support group for veterans is
located across the country. Veterans who are eligible and locations are listed below.
